Houstan Day Two

Day two started out at the rental car company to get us a good, reliable method of getting around this gigantic (4th largest in the US) city they call Houston. And may I say thank heaven for the invention of the GPS. It was my lifeline.

The result was this Nissan Versa. Love the car! Just wish I could afford one for myself!

A short walk around the area of our hotel revealed this beautiful fountain.
Then it was off to begin our adventures in the city of Houston, hoping our luggage would eventually show up.

The first stop: The Houston Aquarium

This was a waterfall on the outside of the building housing the aquarium

...extending down to the side of the entrance

Look: Jellyfish

Fish here, fish there, fish EVERYWHERE!

A cool Aztec ruin with still more fish (of course)

A look at Celestra's favorite of the small aquatic life: seahorses.
A turn around the bend, a walk down a long hallway, and we arrive at
the Maharajah's palace and...
...this beautiful white tiger.

Raar

We're off to see the sharks. If we don't come back alive,
well at least you know where to try to find us.

UUmmmm...... shark,

shark, and even more shark.
To the left, to the right, and, ack duck, even above our heads!

Outside the aquarium to what to our wondering eyes should appear but a mini carnival and face painting too.

Cele's all time favorite carnival ride. The carousel. This time she got to ride a dolphin.

A beautiful job on the face painting

Now some Houston skyline for you

and some more

and more.
(I promise this is still Texas. We didn't hop another plane for LA)

and even more

The hard rock cafe we ate at from the birds eye view in the Farris wheel

Then it was back to the hotel (where, thank heavens, our luggage had been found and returned to us) and a quick change. Then it was off to a night of Broadway entertainment in the form of

(on a funny side note: we traveled to TX, caught a Broadway show, and still saw a familiar Cache Valley native on the program. Vanessa Ballam, a girl I went to school with who has found her own name in stage and opera productions.)

Celestra in her outfit for the show

and me in mine.
It was a great show with a good cast. All in all a very fun filled first day!
