Day four of Houston fun began with a trip to the Houston Zoo. Sadly, this zoo is not nearly as impressive as our own Hogle Zoo but it was still fun. Come take a peek with us at some of the animals we got to see.
Hello Mr. Stork
Mr. Zebra is there an antelope hiding behind you?
Ah these must be his family
We spy an Asian elephant behind those leafy greans
Me thinks Mr. Cheetah wants his lunch
(he was stalking and pouncing towards a man standing just out of the camera's view
quite the sight)
The meercat sentry
Now we move on to the beautiful park surrounding the Zoo. The park beheld such wonders as a large children's play area, a pond with many species of birds, and what you see below.
A fountain in the middle of the park
A monument in celebration of the man who founded Houston, Texas
A train you can ride throughout the park
And the beautiful (and free) Japanese Gardens
Cele under the fronds of some bamboo
The little house situated at the center of the gardens
(these are always in Japanese gardens, they can be tea houses, a persons home, or simply decoration as this one was)
A pagoda on the far shore of the pond
A small stone path
A view of the pond
(yes there were koi in the pond)
Cele in the gardens
A beautiful view
The two of us in the gardens
another beautiful and tranquil view
And now we must say fairwell to Texas and warmer weather
Back home we go...
